Marin MPA Watch
The MPA Watch program trains the public to collect human-use data in and near the network of California’s Marine Protected Areas that are located in the County of Marin. This program is a partnership with the Point Reyes National Seashore and the California Academy of Science. Training sessions for new volunteers are held in the late spring and throughout the summer months.
Duxbury docent program
Protecting nearly three miles of rocky shore, Duxbury Reef State Marine Conservation Area safeguards substantial habitat where a diverse array of marine species live. Researchers who study the rocky intertidal zone at Duxbury Reef as part of the state’s MPA Monitoring Program have identified over 100 different species of invertebrates, seaweeds, and marine plants that cling to the reef as the tide ebbs and flows. Starting in January 2022, EAC in partnership with Marin County Parks and Open Space kicked off our Duxbury Docent Program to ensure educators are on the reef during low-tide and high visitation days to protect sensitive habitat areas and provide visitor education.
